New season will have a greener appearance for both white & red varieties for the first few weeks.Current supply is UK from store. UK new season is still around 6 weeks away with the first harvest expected early July. New season will have a greener appearance for both white & red varieties for the first few weeks.
Imports are starting to reduce and expected to finish just in time for UK supply in June, with any shortfalls made up with a primo variety.
UK new season summer crop is now underway from Lancashire and thriving.
Supply has now moved to Scottish carrots for the final part of the current season, with imported product expected to begin from mid-June. Planting for the new season is complete, although crop development is running slightly behind normal due to the recent colder weather. We will continue to monitor progress closely as growing conditions improve.
UK overwintered currently being supplied, all fleece was removed from our new season crop which is expected to start mid-June – all reports are both over wintered and new season crops are in good health.
Red onion is now moving to Egyptian supply which will take us through until summer when the European harvest starts, new season red and cooking onion expected mid-July.
Supply has now moved to Scottish parsnips for the final part of the season, with imported product expected to start from mid-June and continue through to the end of July. The new season crop has been planted, although development is currently a little behind normal due to the recent colder conditions. As temperatures improve, we expect progress to pick up.
Planting of the new season potato crop is now largely complete, with just a small number of areas in Scotland still to finish. Establishment has generally been very positive, with most crops planted in near-perfect conditions. However, with very little rainfall across Norfolk and Suffolk, crops in these key growing regions are now in urgent need of moisture. As day length increases and temperatures continue to rise, growth rates are expected to pick up, which could help bring the new crop forward.
Currently on stored crop, quality is looking good and holding up well. Drilling for new season crop is almost complete. We expect to move onto this from July.

Leaf

UK leaf availability and quality is looking good.
Moving from imported to home grown from Cheshire. Quality of Lollos and Oakleaf is superb.
Supply is now fully UK from Shropshire, availability and quality is generally looking good.

Berries

Blackberry supply is currently led by Portugal and Guatemala, with UK production expected to begin from mid-June. This should provide a smooth transition into the domestic season as local availability starts to build.
Blueberry supply is currently split between Portugal and Morocco. The UK season is expected to start towards end of July.
Raspberry supply is currently centred on Portugal with our Ava Monet variety. UK Growers have lost a small degree of crop due to the recent hot temperatures but this will recover now that the temperatures have cooled.
UK glasshouse strawberries are now underway from Somerset, with Scottish fruit expected to come fully on stream from June onwards. Quality is excellent with Favori, Karima, Malling Centenary and Magnum varieties being used.

Grapes

Currently Thompson Indian, sweet, Egyptian Sugarone will start June moving through the Mediterranean until Spanish Superior starts in July.
Currently Indian Crimson for a short period before Brazilian Victoria starts late May, moving to South African Crimson in June. Quality good.

Exotics

UK supplied since early May, quality very good and despite cooler weather availability is fine. At this stage we expect UK to take us until mid/ late June. Peruvian air, quality is very good.
Supply is from India and Thailand by air in equal quantities quality good.
Currently South African airfreight, orange carrot, followed by rainbow expected late June, we may see some mini courgette and leek depending on growing conditions as last year’s UK availability was low. South African air will also be required for all mini veg to maintain supply through summer, homegrown is preferred but not always available.
Egypt & Morocco will run until end of June, Rwanda is just staring and will take over once north Africa finished along with Kenya.
South African will continue until the end of Aug. We will start to see European again late summer.
Moroccan still underway, Spanish supply with Portuguese should see us through summer into autumn, quality very good.
Brazil supply expected by air until mid-June before moving into Spanish, followed by Turkey through summer.
Ginger is Chinese new crop some Brazilian may be seen as a backup, Garlic also mainly Chinese with Spanish available and will be supplied as prepared/ peeled.
Mainly Brazilian, quality good, only issues experience is due to shipping, sizing currently looks to be up slightly on last year seeing more premium sizes, 48s & 54s along with 60s. Mexican not expected but always there as backup, no quality issues.
Brazilian Palma is good with an option on Spanish mid-summer. Peruvian also available but Brazilian should be the main supply through summer, quality good.
French Banana from store, quality is good, new season French typically starts mid-August, no problems expected.
Egyptian expected throughout June. Main supply through summer is Honduran, with some USA as a contingency. Egyptian will restart in September, and quality is very good.
Zimbabwe & Kenya by air, sea freight from Far East runs alongside.

Fruits

From May into June, we will move most supply from European to Southern Hemisphere supply. All red varieties have been programmed from both South Africa and Brazil this summer. When we finish our European programs, we will have our first arrival from Sao Joaquim in Brazil. Our South African will arrive in June.
Supply is very short this season, we will continue with France & Serbia through June. Supply from South Africa expected in July but crop is very limited this year. We suggest other varieties such as Golden Delicious or change to red apple.
Quality good, we have changed over as planned to South African crop.
Supply is still European mainly Greece with Portuguese also available, we expect to move to Southern Hemisphere with first arrivals from Chilie in June which will take us through summer.
Due to the cold wet condition in Spain and North Africa, we started our South African programmes around 4 weeks earlier than last year. New crop quality is excellent, sizes look to be up slightly this season, leaning towards 113, rather than 120 in a 15kg box.
Egyptian supply through to late July, move to South African - good availability, Argentina is a backup but probably not required despite heavy rains in the Eastern Cape.
Poor weather has brought the Moroccan season to an early close. New season satsumas from South Africa have now arrived, with excellent eating quality. Early fruit may appear light orange, but it is sweet and will take us through to mid-June, when our main Clementine programme begins.
We have now moved from European to South African supply. Summer varieties will include Packham, Williams and Vermont Beauty.
Supply remains South African, with Angelino as the current variety and quality reported as good. We expect to switch to Spanish supply in mid-June, slightly later than usual due to delayed harvesting after a poor winter season.
